Neotropic Calendar
Neotropic Calendar was created for people whose work, interests or projects regularly take them into the field.
Naturalists, guides, photographers, researchers and other field-oriented users often need to keep track of things that do not fit particularly well into a conventional work calendar: field trips, surveys, expeditions, biological events, seasonal phenomena, observations, projects and dates worth returning to later.
Neotropic Calendar provides a dedicated place to organise them.
A calendar for fieldwork and natural history
Many calendars are built around meetings, deadlines and office schedules.
Those things still matter, but they are not always the centre of a naturalist's working life.
A flowering period may matter.
A migration window may matter.
A survey that needs to be repeated several months later may matter.
So may an expedition, a monitoring session, a photography trip, a biological event or simply something observed in the field that is worth remembering when the same season returns.
Neotropic Calendar was built with that kind of use in mind.
What can go into it
The calendar can be used to organise different parts of field and natural-history work in one place.

How it is used depends on the person.

The intention is not to prescribe a particular workflow, but to provide a calendar that makes room for these kinds of activities.
Why I made it
Neotropic Calendar came from a fairly ordinary problem.
Much of my own work and many of the things I want to remember are connected to what is happening outside.
There are tours and field trips, but also seasonal changes, observations, projects, species worth looking for again and natural events that become meaningful because they repeat.
Conventional calendars can record those dates, of course.
But they were not designed around them.
Neotropic Calendar is my attempt to build something that was.

Your Neotropic Calendar belongs to your account rather than to a particular device.
Use it from your phone while you are in the field and open the same calendar later from your computer. Your information remains synchronized between devices.
Connect Google Calendar
Google Calendar integration is available for people who want their Neotropic activities alongside the rest of their schedule.
The connection is optional and can be removed at any time.
No permanent subscription
Neotropic Calendar is intended as a single-purchase application.
You buy the application rather than adding another permanent subscription to your monthly expenses.
Purchasing Neotropic Calendar also directly supports the continued development of independent tools and ecological projects through Neotropic Field Systems.
Development
Neotropic Calendar is an active Neotropic Field Systems project.
The application will continue to improve as it is used, but its purpose will remain deliberately simple: to provide a useful calendar for people whose activities, work and curiosity regularly take them into the field.
